Joint Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy Online Advice Clinic
If you want to discuss your child’s needs with experienced professionals and start trying some strategies to help, an online video call consultation may be what you need.
This does not replace assessment by a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist or a neurodevelopmental assessment. It is intended to be an opportunity to get some strategies that might help with communication, sensory regulation and daily living.
Learning Talking currently has a limited number of appointments available for online consultation with a Speech and Language Therapist and an Occupational Therapist. This consultation appointment will provide an opportunity to.
- Discuss your child’s speech, language, communication or interaction needs, sensory needs or needs for functional daily living with expert professionals
- Receive advice, strategies and signposting based on your child’s needs.
Benefits of a Parent Consultation
- Help you understand your child’s needs
- Allow you to start trying strategies and activities to support your child’s speech, language, communication and interaction.
How does it work?
- You will be sent a short questionnaire to complete and return prior to the appointment
- You will be invited to an online Zoom appointment with an occupational therapist and a speech and language therapist who have skills in the areas you have described
- Appointments are 40 minutes in length
- The Zoom appointment is for parents/guardians only, the child should not attend
- Following the appointment, you will be emailed advice, strategies and signposting based on the needs discussed.
What happens after the online consultation?
- Parent Consultations do not replace direct assessment of a child’s needs – this is still recommended if your child is presenting with speech, language, communication, sensory or interaction needs
- The therapists may recommend you request referral for your child to other services.
How much does it cost?
- The cost is £110. Appointments must be paid for in advance.
If you would like a Parent Consultation appointment, please contact info@learningtalking.co.uk and you will be sent a questionnaire.
We will then offer you a choice of Zoom appointment slots.
Consultation slots are currently available on alternate Thursday afternoons.
The Online Consultation is a one-off consultation and advice appointment.
Individual private therapy and assessment – bookings not currently available
Unfortunately we are not currently able to offer regular assessment or therapy appointments to individual clients as the team are fully booked providing speech and language therapy services via school contracts. Should this situation change we will reopen bookings.
We recommend that you request an assessment via your local NHS service, or via your child’s school.
We also recommend that you use www.helpwithtalking.com to find a list of therapists local to your area.
